A student-led nonprofit building sustainable solutions for Eastern Kentucky.

Future Forward is a student-led environmental nonprofit founded by Anikaa Sharma, a sophomore at Pikeville High School. The idea behind it is simple: students aren't just the future of Eastern Kentucky; they're ready to lead it now.

Its flagship program, the Green Future Initiative, is turning waste into change across Pike County. Green Future launched recycling and composting in six high schools (labeled bins, cafeteria collection, and peer-to-peer education, built and run by students) and is developing Sort Smart, an AI tray scanner, and Bottle to Filament, which turns recycled bottles into 3D-printing filament.
